The Depth of Kyoto Tradition
Miyo no Mukashi (御代の昔) – meaning “Ancient Imperial Era” – is one of Marukyu Koyamaen’s most iconic ceremonial matchas, cherished for its depth, harmony, and refined umami.
Harvested from the first flush of Uji’s shade-grown leaves, this matcha is stone-milled to a fine, silky texture that reveals centuries of Kyoto craftsmanship.
When whisked, Miyo no Mukashi produces a brilliant jade-green color with velvety froth.
The taste opens with bold umami, followed by a natural sweetness and long, clean finish — elegant, grounded, and perfectly balanced.
