Refined Calm from Uji, Kyoto

Chigi no Shiro (千木の白) represents the peak of Marukyu Koyamaen’s ceremonial artistry — a matcha crafted for those who seek purity, balance, and quiet depth.
Its name, meaning “White of the Shrine Ridgepole,” evokes harmony and stillness — the very essence of traditional Japanese tea.

Harvested from Uji’s finest first flush leaves, Chigi no Shiro is meticulously stone-milled to a delicate powder with a vivid jade-green hue.
The aroma is soft and clean, while the taste unfolds layers of gentle umami and natural sweetness, leaving no trace of bitterness.

Taste & Experience

  • Flavor: smooth, mild umami, light floral notes, creamy texture

  • Color: pure jade green with silky froth

  • Mouthfeel: round, balanced, serene

Perfect for koicha (thick ceremonial tea), yet equally elegant for modern daily rituals — a moment of calm in your everyday routine.

How to Prepare

  1. Sift 2g (½ tsp) of matcha into a bowl

  2. Add 60–70ml water at 80°C (176°F)

  3. Whisk briskly with a chasen until a fine foam forms

  4. Enjoy as usucha (light tea) or blend with milk for a calm matcha latte

Heritage

Produced by Marukyu Koyamaen, a tea house in Uji, Kyoto since the Edo period (founded over 300 years ago).
Their dedication to harmony (wa), respect (kei), and tranquility (sei, jaku) continues through every tin of Chigi no Shiro — matcha for both tradition and the modern calm lifestyle.
